Letter of Recommendation for Carolyn Schmies:

It is my pleasure to recommend Carolyn M. Schmies for acceptance as a Superb Speaker in your roster of professional speakers.

I have known Carolyn personally and professionally for more than 6 years. She is a recent Delphi retiree with a robust resume of Delphi experience. During the years that I had the pleasure of serving on the Delphi Packard Mexico East Leadership Staff with Carolyn, she was the responsible Purchasing Manager for our region, which encompassed 12 manufacturing facilities. Carolyn exhibited the highest standards of business ethics, protocol, demeanor, and professionalism. She was responsible for training many, many buyers and leading her staff in the same level of business ethics and professionalism.

During the 5 years that I worked with Carolyn, she was transferred from Purchasing managerial responsibility and tasked with globally training the entire corporation’s Purchasing buyers, supervisors and managers due to demonstrated superior knowledge of Purchasing negotiation as well as government regulations. During this time Carolyn traveled to Asia and Europe and was received very well by all countries where she trained personnel.

In addition to managerial responsibility and subsequent training responsibilities, Carolyn simultaneously championed the meeting of the corporation’s supplier diversity and development goals. Under Carolyn’s leadership, Delphi won numerous awards corporately for minority supplier development, and for consistently exceeding the corporation’s diversity goals.

Carolyn has also consistently won awards personally for outstanding work with Minority Business Councils in Texas. These recognitions were highlighted in the Corporation’s news articles, and in person at leadership banquets and industry wide Business Matchmaker events.

Carolyn would be a stellar addition to your roster of instructors. With an educational background in Speech, Carolyn is a superior speaker, communicator, trainer and facilitator. She is a leader in her church, an outstanding mother, and a leader in her community with an infectious personality. Additionally, Carolyn is a generous person, who regularly opens her home to people in need. I am one flood victim who benefited from her family’s grace to open their home after Hurricane Fay in 2002.

She is a unique blend of business professional and philanthropist and would be a great contributor to the Superb Speakers Bureau.
